Broomtown or bust

Just thought I’d post a couple of pictures from my recent play testing of Elenderil’s new rules. It didn’t really require the scenery to be out but I thought I’d do a quick review of things at the same time.

As you can see the roads need lining with foliage and the edges of almost everything need to be darker green to match the mat. The river needs toning down too while I’m at it. I’ll be creating some hedged enclosures next and cutting up the duplicate mouse mat to make the contoured hills. You can’t see them in the pictures but there are a couple of Broomtown residents dotted around the place as well. Lol.

  1. That's a very impressive set up and really shows off 2mm in a great light:)

    1. Cheers Steve. Thinking about it, lighting is something else I need to improve soon. It’s been ruddy gloomy weather lately in this neck of the woods.

  2. Hello old chap,

I have to say that looks a hugely impressive set up! I love the town and agree that the road and rivers need a soupcon of toning down. It really shows off the value of using this scale and I will look forward to seeing how you take this forward.

All the best and well done old chap,

    1. Thanks DC, the smaller the scale the bigger the battlefield seems to get. I’m going to take a break from it for a week or two and re muster my enthusiasm I think.

    1. Lee sent me some piccies of some really nice 2mm terrain a few days ago, from FB I think he said. I would have liked to have gone down that really scenic route myself but it lacks the ability to be easily changed to match new scenarios. Well at least that’s what I’ve been telling myself! Lol.

    1. Thanks mate, it seems to have taken ages to get this far - but it’s actually only been a couple of months.

    1. Thanks Peter. The size of it does at least mean it’s quick to set up:and take down again.

  8. Yes, I'd say that is all pretty much spot on JBM, and I absolutely love what you have done with all of those buildings. Shame you don't 'do' FB as there is a lively 2mm group there with some excellent and inspiring ideas for terrain creation, but if I see anymore that I think might interest you I'll pinch the photos!

    1. Thanks Lee. I’m afraid I’m a victim of my own misanthropic tendencies- I don’t do Facebook, Twitter or even Tik Tok, (to my various grandchildren’s annoyance). Happy for you to nick their photos and send them on mind…. Lol.

  9. Nice terrain JBM and thanks for giving my rules a play test, it is very much appreciated. I have gone down the same route as yourself for terrain. By using drop terrain rather than terrain boards there is a huge amount of flexibility for layouts. Keep up the good work.

    1. Cheers Elenderil, the rules testing is going to have to wait for a few more days I’m afraid. Hard to concentrate when your smacked out of your head on night nurse!

  10. Very impressive indeed you certainly know how to get the best out of these little guys. For this scale it has to be the whole battlefield concept, the buildings and hedges etc set the whole thing off. Excellent
