Covid house blues

I called off my anticipated game this weekend thanks to the side effects of my first COVID jab,  however I did manage to finish off three more WOTR units. To that end I invite you to gasp in awe as I showcase my “work” through the medium of poor lighting and a crappy camera.

I also invested £10 to buy 128 hard to find ECW tomes at this chaps site.

The Emperors Library

Here’s a screen grab of what I got for my dosh. Okay they’re all pdfs and not actual books, but hey... what do you expect for a tenner? The site covers loads of other periods so I thought I’d put this out there for anyone else that hasn’t seen it and might be interested.

  1. Wow! What a lot you got, as Brucie used to say. I might fork out for that. I was put off contemporary accounts somewhat by Symonds’ diary, but there’s enough there that if they delve into church window design I can pick up another one.

The WOTR figures are coming along nicely.

    1. Ahh you see I’m a sucker for a good old political pamphlet or anything with contemporary phraseology. I hav3 to say the quality of the PDF’s I’ve looked at so far so far has been very good.

  2. Hope you feel better soon. Dose #2 was the one that made me ill.

    1. Thanks Jonathan, others I know have been a bit knocked about by dose 2 as well. I always think it’s good to have something to look forward too! Lol.

  5. Interesting collection of titles, I think your War of the Roses chaps have turned out rather well, after I had the vaccine I lost my sense of taste, spent the whole night shivering or sweating with stomach cramps and headache, out for 48 hours! Not really looking forward to the second one if it's worse!
    Best Iain

    1. I’ve had real reservations about being injected with something recommended by Boris Johnson or Mat Hancock but hey it is what it is, as they say. Feeling better today anyway so I’ll try and forget the second one in June for now. Glad you like the WOTR stuff, they actually look a lot better than the pictures suggest, (but then I would say that wouldn’t I?!) LOL.

  6. That lot will keep you busy for a while then JBM. When Caliver began publishing in their early days I was an avid collector but some of these titles would be a bit heavy for my old brain. I do love the language both written and spoken of the period though.

It's interesting to read more accounts of the vaccine side effects, Iains pretty much mirrored my own experience. Within a few days of my jab I started to develop a severe skin rash that has got increasingly worse and to be honest I have not felt fully right since including a week spent in bed barely able to keep my eyes open. Off to the Docs today so all good fun. My neighbour cheered me up yesterday when he told me that his work mate has been unwell for six weeks following his first jab and he's always in rude health normally :) Yikes!

    1. Morning Lee, I seem to be getting over my reaction to the jab now thank goodness. I don’t normally do illness so, I was a little taken aback to be honest. Definitely not looking forward to the second one. I’ve been hearing a lot from neighbours about adverse reactions, all Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccine as it turns out. Sounds like you’ve had a bad outcome to yours, so let’s hope it wears off soon...all those miniatures aren’t going to paint themselves!

  7. WOTR are looking good - should be an impressive array.
With that little purchase are you planning on remaining in lockdown for another year or so? I daren’t visit the site for fear of following your example.

    1. Hey Graham, yeah the WOTR forces are slowly building into an army. Slowly being the operative word. I’ve never in all my gaming life been so distracted with other concurrent projects. So much to do. So little time. I may yet choke to death on the literature overload - but it’s like ruddy catnip to me.
